Dear Reader,

Greetings from PYSSUM

As PYSSUM grows day by day and step by step from efforts big and small, our commitment to society reaches a new milestone each day.

With an aim to initiate literary discussions on ‘disability’ and its associated stigma, we are joyously launching PYSSUM Literaria as a forum for people interested in a diverse range of topics. Our magazine will encourage work that defies convention and includes people on the margins. This space is open to all who wish to transform, transgress and traverse boundaries. We would like our contributors to use this platform not merely to showcase their own work but to support the work of other contributors as well. In our inaugural issue, we are happy to welcome members of the Advisory Board to share our vision of a better and more inclusive world.  A big thank you to all our contributors who responded to our call for submissions. With a team of dedicated young editors, we hope to move rapidly towards creating and enhancing this literary space. Together, we can and we will aspire to create a world that endorses our timeless philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' – the world is one family, and we are all from the one and the same source of light.

We dedicate our first issue to Dr. Hansa Suryavanshi who passed away in 2020 after battling Cancer for many years.  She worked as Head, Department of Therapeutics, at Chetna in Lucknow.  Her remarkable commitment to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities was unparalleled.  We remember her fondly for her unswerving devotion to the cause of the disabled.   We hope your love and support as well as creative contributions continue to reach us in abundance, as we walk together on this journey of social change.

In divine friendship
